Mustang Trek

MustangThis is newly opened trekking area extending fro Kagbeni to Lomanthang. It has wilderness, unique scenarios, snow-covered peaks and spectacular 16th century monasteries, all of them par excellence.
Mustang is located in one of the remote regions of Nepal. It takes about 10 days to reach there from Pokhara on foot. One can also fly to Jomsom from Kathmandu or Pokhara and begin the trek from there.
Upper Mustang is a Trans -Himalayan region n, shadowed by the Annapurna and Dhaulagri mountains. Being a rain shadow area it is sand swept. The hinterland is formed mainly of necked ridges, deep canyons, eroded cliffs and moraine valley. Lo-Monthang, the capital of the region, is a 15th century settlement. The inhabitants are nomads with distinct culture and traditions. Trekkers need to obtain special permission and are allowed to trek only in groups.
